Team India captain Shubman Gill is close to becoming the number-1 batsman in the ODI rankings. He is just one point behind Darryl Mitchell of New Zealand. Gill scored 188 runs in the 3-match ODI series against England, with the help of which he has come close to overtaking Mitchell (802), who was on top. Apart from Gill, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are also included in the top-5 in the latest rankings released on Wednesday (July 22).
At what number are Kohli-Rohit?
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are at third and fourth positions respectively in the ODI rankings for batsmen. Kohli had played half-centuries in the last two matches of the series. He has 767 rating points. Rohit, who played a century at Lord’s, has 758 rating points in his account. India’s new T20 captain Shreyas Iyer has moved up two places to 13th in the ODI rankings.
Joe Root, who scored 249 runs in the India-England series, has jumped 4 places. He has now reached number eight. Indian bowlers were not able to dismiss Root in even a single match. His English teammate Ben Duckett has also reached joint 19th position with a jump of 11 places. Jacob Bethel is also up five places to 64th.

England’s fast bowler Joffra Archer, who took five wickets in the ODI series against India, has moved up one place to third place after Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed. Whereas Kuldeep Yadav has to suffer the loss of not playing even a single match. Kuldeep Yadav has dropped out of the top-10 in the bowlers’ rankings and has come to 11th place.
