By scoring 50 runs in this match, Shubman Gill will become only the second Indian captain to complete the fastest 1000 runs in Test.

Shubman Gill has played a total of 8 test matches as captain so far. During this period, he has scored 950 runs at an average of 79.16 while batting in 14 innings. In such a situation, if Gill scores 50 runs in the Test match against Afghanistan, then he will become only the second captain from India to score the fastest 1000 runs in Test. He will become the second fastest captain to score 1000 runs in terms of innings.

Sunil Gavaskar holds the record for scoring the fastest 1000 runs as an Indian captain in Test cricket. Gavaskar had achieved this feat in just 14 innings. Now Shubman Gill has a great opportunity to join their club. It is not going to be difficult for them.

Shubman Gill has been handling the Test captaincy of Team India for only one year and till now has captained only 8 matches. Gill will become the 11th Indian captain to score 1000 or more runs as captain in Test cricket. Virat Kohli holds the record for scoring the most runs as an Indian captain in Test cricket. Kohli has scored a total of 5864 runs while batting in 113 innings of 68 matches.
