Shubman Gill out.. Ishan Kishan’s surprise entry, Team India announced for T20 World Cup 2026, Suryakumar’s captaincy intact.

The 15-member Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2026 has been announced on Saturday at the headquarters of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Indian team will enter the World Cup under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav. Many shocking decisions have been taken in the BCCI meeting. While there has been a surprise entry of wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan, who was out of the team for a long time, Shubman Gill has been dropped. Let us tell you that T20 World Cup 2026 is to be played hosted by India and Sri Lanka. It will start on 7th February.

Ishan Kishan and Rinku Singh got place in the Indian team for T20 World Cup 2026.

BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar announced the team for the T20 World Cup in Mumbai through a press conference. Wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan and middle order batsman Rinku Singh are also included in the 15-member team. Ishaan has returned to the Indian team after almost 2 years.

Shubman Gill out of Team India for T20 World Cup 2026

Shubman Gill was flopping in cricket for a long time. Although there were reports in the media that perhaps Shubman Gill might be included in the tournament but it did not happen. Shubman Gill’s name is not included in the team that India has selected for the T20 World Cup. Gill was the vice-captain of the team till now, but now this responsibility has once again been handed over to Akshar Patel. Gill was not in good form in T20.

Sanju Samson will do wicketkeeping for Team India

While announcing the team, Ajit Agarkar told that Sanju Samson will be the wicketkeeper. With Gill being out, it has now been decided that Abhishek will open the innings with Sharma. The opening pair of Samson and Abhishek has been quite successful and the same was seen in the fifth T20 against South Africa.

Indian team announced for T20 series against New Zealand

Let us tell you that apart from this, the team has also been selected for the T20 series against New Zealand to be held next month. While the Indian team has to play the first match of this series on January 21 in Nagpur, the second and third matches have to be played on February 23 in Raipur and on February 25 in Guwahati. After this, the fourth match is to be played on 28th February in Visakhapatnam while the last match of the series is to be played on 31st January in the stadium of Thiruvananthapuram.

ICC has appointed Rohit Sharma as the brand ambassador of T20 World Cup 2026. This World Cup will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka, and Rohit’s contribution will make the tournament even more special. Rohit Sharma’s name has always been synonymous with respect and trust among cricket fans.
