The Indian team for T20 World Cup 2026 has been announced. The selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar has shown the door to Shubman Gill. Akshar Patel has been made the vice-captain in place of Shubman. Rinku Singh and Ishan Kishan have entered the team. Rinku is the backup middle order batsman, while Kishan has been kept as the second wicketkeeper.
The team was announced after the meeting held on Saturday (December 20) at the BCCI headquarters. Board Secretary Devjit Saikia announced the squad in the press conference. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar were also present in the press conference.
