Shubman Gill returns to Team India, joins squad before Cuttack T20

Desk. India’s ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill has finally joined Team India. Gill reached Cuttack on Sunday, 7 December and started preparations for the first T20 match with the team. He was out of the Test and ODI series due to a neck injury. He suffered this injury during the first Test match against South Africa in Kolkata, after which he had to be hospitalized.

After the injury, Gill completed his rehab at the BCCI Center of Excellence. He went through progressive batting sessions, ground conditioning and fitness drills. According to the medical team, Gill has successfully passed all the fitness parameters and has now been declared fit to play in all three formats. A video of Gill sitting with Abhishek Sharma in the team bus is going viral on social media, seeing which the fans are very happy with his return.

Gill’s absence proved to be big for India, especially in the Test series. South Africa clean sweeps India 2-0. Although India came back to win the series 2-1 in ODIs, Gill’s batting can always make a difference in the top order.
