On December 14 itself, he celebrated his 90th birthday with many celebrities. Shyam Benegal was counted among those directors whose films left a mark on the hearts of people. He used to make films on very different and special subjects. His films made headlines not only in India but also in Bangladesh. The name of one film was 'Mujeeb'. Which was based on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of Bangladesh. He has also been the President of Bangladesh. This film was made on his life. Sheikh Hasina had approved the film

The entire shooting of the biopic was done in Bangladesh. Benegal had told that bringing the character of Mujibur Rahman on screen was not an easy task. He was close to Hindustan.
