Mumbai: Famous Bollywood director Shyam Benegal has passed away. He breathed his last at the age of 90. Benegal was ill for a long time. According to the information, he was awarded Padma Shri in 1976 and Padma Bhushan in 1991. His daughter Pia Benegal has confirmed his death to the media.

His daughter Pia Benegal told the media that her father was suffering from chronic kidney disease and had reached the last stage of the disease. Shyam Benegal breathed his last at the age of 90. In an interview given to Obnews, he had told that both his kidneys have failed and he is undergoing dialysis at home.

Shyam Begenal has also been honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
