Mumbai: Siddharth Nigam is earning praise for his intense performance in the newly released series Kaptaan, currently streaming on Amazon MX Player. The actor has revealed that he performed all his action sequences himself, even sustaining injuries in the process.
High-risk stunts for authenticity
Nigam, who plays the character Kabir in the crime drama, shared that he pushed his physical limits to bring realism to the role.
“I performed all my action sequences myself, from jumping off heights of around 20 feet to executing continuous one-shot action scenes,” he said. “There were moments where I even got injured, but for me, that’s part of the process when you’re fully committed to the character.”
He added that his primary aim was to make the action sequences feel authentic so that viewers could fully immerse themselves in the story.
Gritty storyline and intense face-off
Set in the fictional town of Jwalabad, “Kaptaan” delves into a dark world of organised crime, power struggles, and personal vendettas. The narrative centres on a gripping face-off between Kabir and SSP Samardeep, played by Saqib Saleem.
The series also features a strong supporting cast, including Kavita Kaushik, Varun Badola, Anjumm Shharma, Aarif Zakaria, Pooja Gor, Vikram Kochhar, and Anushka Kaushik.
Collaborative on-set experience
Reflecting on his experience, Nigam praised his co-stars, especially Saqib Saleem, for creating a positive and collaborative environment on set.
“Saqib bhai is extremely supportive and brought a very positive energy on set, which made it easier for everyone to perform more freely,” he said.
Nigam noted that working alongside experienced actors pushed him to elevate his performance and deliver his best in every scene.
