Sikandar Raza, Bennett’s fiery Knocks Setup Zimbabwe’s 6-wicket Victory Against Sri Lanka
A solid knock from Sikandar Raza and Brian Bennett has set up Zimbabwe’s 6-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup 2026 game played at Colombo.
Brian Bennett (63) and Sikandar Raza (45) knocks helped the side maintain an unbeaten streak in the group stages of the T20 World Cup campaign.
After choosing to bat first, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera opened the innings for Sri Lanka while Sikandar Raza opened the bowling attack.
By this win, Zimbabwe topped the chart in the Group B of the T20 World Cup 2026 points table.
Despite Kusal Perera’s dismissal for 22 runs by Blessing Muzarabani, Sri Lanka went on to score 61 runs in the power play.
Kusal Mendis, who came to bat after Perera’s walkout, added 14 runs as the co-hosts lost the 2nd wicket for 100 runs.
Pathum Nissanka scored 62 runs off 41 deliveries before being dismissed by Graeme Cremer.
Pavan Rathanayake added 44 runs off 25 deliveries before being dismissed by Brad Evans. Graeme Cremer bagged his 2nd wicket after dismissing Kamindu Mendis for 7 runs.

With Dasun Shanaka and Dushan Hemantha got dismissed cheaply, Sri Lanka amassed 178 runs in their 20 over innings.
Blessing Muzarabani, Brad Evans and Graeme Cremer picked two wickets each while Ryan Burl completed his two-over spell with 1 wicket tally.
Chasing the 179 run target, Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani opened the innings while Dilshan Madushanka opened the bowling attack.
The opener duo added 55 runs in the powerplay. Dunith Wellalage brought the first breakthrough for Sri Lanka dismissing Tadiwanashe Marumani for 34 runs.
Shanaka bagged the wicket of Ryan Burl for 23 runs. Dushan Hemantha picked the wickets of Sikandar Raza and Tashinga Musekiwa for 45 and 1 run respectively.
In the final over, Zimbabwe chased the target with a six from Tony Munyonga. They scored 182 runs with three balls remaining to spare.
Sikandar Raza was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking at the post match presentation, Raza said, “When I walked out there, I thought the openers laid the foundation. And I think when Ryan Burl went out there as well, we tried to change the momentum.”
