Mirzapur. In the Sikhad area, a stone slab with the name of Pandit Vijayanand Mishra Marg was installed by the department on the road pavement in front of Umashankar Kesari’s shop on the Khaira-Sikhad road. It is alleged that due to construction of boundary in front of the shop, the said stone slab has been completely covered, due to which it is no longer visible to the people.

Pandit Vijaya Nand Mishra was the first MLA of Mirzapur district and a freedom fighter. In his honour, this road has been named Pandit Vijaya Nand Mishra Khaira-Sikhad Road. In such a situation, local people say that it is not appropriate for the stone slab installed in their name to be covered in this manner.

Villagers say that the stone plates installed on public roads are meant to identify the route and provide information to the common people. Therefore, the concerned department should get this matter investigated and the stone slab should be installed again at a clearly visible place, so that along with honoring the freedom fighter and public representative, the purpose of public information can also be fulfilled.
