Silent Killer Kidney: The face gives big signals, but you are not able to understand. Know why it is important to recognize them. – ..
News India Live, Digital Desk: Our face is not only a mirror of our beauty, but it can also indicate the diseases going on inside our body. Sometimes some serious diseases, like kidney problems, start showing their symptoms clearly on our face. If you see the changes mentioned below on the face of you or anyone around you, then be cautious and consult a doctor without any delay.
1. Swelling of eyes and face (puffiness on face):
If your eyes look swollen every morning or your face often looks puffy, then this can be a big sign. The job of the kidney is to remove excess fluid and waste products from the body. When the kidneys do not function properly, fluid starts accumulating in the body, which is called ‘edema’ in medical language. This swelling is first and most visible around the eyes and on the face. Therefore, if suddenly your face starts feeling swollen, do not ignore it.
2. Discoloration of the face (pallor or yellowish brownness):
Due to kidney failure, there may be anemia in the body. This happens because healthy kidneys produce a special hormone ‘erythropoietin’, which is necessary for the production of red blood cells. When the kidneys are damaged, this hormone is produced less, due to which there is a deficiency of red blood cells and oxygen is not able to reach the body properly. As a result, the face appears pale or brownish-yellow, as if there is no blood on the face. This is also an important symptom.
3. Itching, Dryness and Rashes:
When the kidneys are unable to remove the waste from the body, these toxic substances start accumulating in the blood. The effect of these toxins is also visible on our skin. The skin starts looking very dry and lifeless. Many people complain of constant itching on the face or other parts of the body and small pimples or rashes may also occur. Such skin problems cannot be cured by external remedies alone, because the problem is internal.
4. Dark circles under the eyes and fatigue:
Although dark circles can also be caused by lack of sleep or stress, they can become deeper and more permanent in case of kidney failure. Due to kidney failure, anemia and fatigue also persist in the body. If you feel tired despite getting enough sleep and always have dark circles under the eyes, do not consider it just a cosmetic problem, it could be a symptom of an underlying health problem.
5. Ammonia-like smell or taste:
If a strange smell like ammonia starts coming from your mouth or a metallic taste persists in the mouth, then this can also be a sign of kidney problem. This happens due to excessive accumulation of urea in the body, which the kidneys are not able to remove. It is also called ‘Uremic Breath’, which is a serious warning related to the health of the face and mouth.
Remember, all these symptoms are just warnings. It is not necessary that every facial change is due to kidney problem. But if these symptoms appear continuously or more than one symptom is felt simultaneously, then consult a doctor as soon as possible and get your kidneys checked. Any serious condition can be avoided by early detection.
