In today’s era, where weddings have become a medium to show off the expenditure of lakhs of crores and huge dowry, a heart-touching picture has emerged from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. Here, a groom not only showed a mirror to the society by marrying without dowry, but also presented such an example of simple marriage as per Sunnah-e-Rasool, which is being discussed everywhere. The most unique thing about this Nikah was that the bride was given only six earthen pots in the name of dowry.
Actually, this whole matter is of Peepalsana area of Moradabad rural area. When the Nikah rituals started at Sakleni Masjid here on Monday, everyone present there was amazed at the simplicity. The marriage of Mohammad Afroz, son of Jarrar Hussain, a resident of Mohalla Chand Masjid, was fixed with Tarannum, daughter of Mohammad Hanif of the bus stand area. The atmosphere of pageantry and extravagance that is usually seen in weddings was completely missing here. Hafiz Faizan Mian performed the Nikah of both of them with utmost simplicity.
Why was an earthen pot given in dowry?
When the time of farewell came after the marriage, everyone’s eyes were fixed on the gift given to the bride. Only six earthen pots were given in the name of dowry from the girl’s side. This was not a compulsion, but a deliberate attempt to give a big message to the society. The organizers of the Nikah and both the families believed that simplicity has been given the utmost importance in Islam. Even during the time of Prophet Mohammad (Sunnat-e-Rasool), marriages used to take place in a similar manner without any ostentation. To keep this tradition alive, it was decided to give earthen utensils.

There was immense enthusiasm among the local people regarding this unique marriage. People attending the function said that today even middle class families are burdened with debt during weddings.
