Singapore has surpassed Tokyo to become the second most searched Asian destination after Bangkok by travelers in Vietnam during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, according to online platform Agoda.
Overall Tet travel interest for both domestic and international travel has increased compared to the holiday period last year, based on searches made on Agoda between October and November 2025 for check-ins during Feb. 14–22.
The Year of Horse begins on Feb. 17 and Vietnamese people enjoy a nine-day break.
Interest in outbound trips increased by 7%, Agoda said. Tokyo came in third, followed by Hong Kong and Bali.
Bangkok is often favored by international tourists thanks to its friendly visa policy, cheap travel costs and vibrant nightlife, while Singapore is known for its low crime rates and high safety levels.
Earlier this year, it was named the safest country in Southeast Asia, according to a report published by Numbeo, the world’s largest database of user-contributed data.
Singapore will implement stricter screening measures from Jan. 30 to prevent travelers deemed high-risk or who do not meet entry requirements from boarding flights to the city-state.
