Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam visited Raghurajpur village during his visit to Odisha, saw heritage and craftsmanship.
Bhubaneswar: Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam visited Raghurajpur village in Odisha on Saturday. He saw the traditional craftsmanship and workmanship there. His wife Jane Yumiko Ittogi also accompanied him on this trip.
In a post on Twitter, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Experiencing the cultural heritage of India. “President of Singapore @Tharman_S visits beautiful Raghurajpur village in Odisha and explores its heritage crafts and artisan diversity.”

On Friday, Tharman Shanmugaratnam visited the crafts museum in Odisha and appreciated the “lively cultural display” at Kalabhoomi. Odisha Governor Haribabu Kambhampati was also present on this occasion.
In a post on Twitter, Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi wrote, “Participated in a productive post dinner meeting with His Excellency President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Honorable Governor of Odisha Shri Haribabu Kambhampati Ji and other distinguished delegates at Kala Bhoomi, Bhubaneswar It was an honor to take.”

During the programme, the rich heritage, culture and traditions of Odisha were showcased to His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who expressed his appreciation for the vibrant cultural display. “We also explored potential areas of cooperation between Odisha and Singapore, especially in trade, culture and sustainable development,” he said.
It was an honor to attend a productive meeting followed by a dinner with His Excellency, President of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Hon'ble Governor of Odisha Shri Haribabu Kambhampati ji, and other distinguished delegates at Kala Bhumi, Bhubaneswar.

Four-day state visit to India
Shanmugaratnam is on a four-day state visit to India from January 14-18. The President of Singapore and his wife reached Odisha on Friday. Odisha CM Majhi welcomed him at the airport. “I welcomed His Excellency Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of Singapore, to God's land Odisha,” Majhi said in a post on X.
Agreement reached on these issues
Eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged between Odisha and various Singaporean entities to strengthen cooperation in key areas in the presence of Tharman on Friday. Two MoUs for industrial parks and green hydrogen corridor were signed between Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and Sembcorp, Singapore.
Another MoU was signed between IDCO and Surbana Jurong, Singapore for Petrochemical and Petroleum Investment Region (PCPIR). An MoU was signed between Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Surbana Jurong, Singapore for the development of a new city.
Others include collaboration between Nanyang Technological University (NTU), GRIDCO and IIT Bhubaneswar for new energy sector; and Strengthening the FinTech Ecosystem: MoU between the Department of Electronics and IT of Odisha and the Global Finance and Technology Network (GFTN) of Singapore.
