Singapore’s Changi Airport ranks among the world’s best places to meet the love of your life, according to a new global ranking.
The ranking, compiled by aviation legal-tech firm AirAdvisor, placed Changi seventh worldwide in its newly launched “Love Connection Score,” which measures how likely airports are to create conditions for spontaneous real-world encounters.
The top 10 list includes major international hubs such as Istanbul, Seoul Incheon, London Heathrow, Dubai, New York JFK and Tokyo Haneda, with Singapore the only Southeast Asian airport to make the upper ranks.
According to the study, Changi earned an overall score of 7.45 out of 10 and received a perfect 10 for passenger comfort and mood. The airport also recorded one of the highest Google review ratings in the region at 4.7.
AirAdvisor’s CEO Anton Radchenko said relaxed, comfortable environments increase the likelihood that travelers engage with one another rather than rushing straight to their gates, Mothership reported.
Often described as more than just a transit hub, Changi is known for lifestyle features including the Rain Vortex waterfall and indoor gardens at Jewel, along with extensive dining and open seating areas designed for long layovers.
Unlike traditional travel rankings focused on efficiency or luxury, the Love Connection Score blends passenger volume, international route diversity, transfer traffic and the availability of cafés, bars and shared social spaces. The index is based on the idea that connections are more likely when travelers are unhurried and spending time in common areas.
Asian airports performed particularly strongly in the study, with Seoul Incheon, Tokyo Haneda and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi also appearing in the global top 10. Researchers suggested that many Asian hubs are designed as lifestyle destinations, encouraging passengers to linger rather than simply pass through.
