The Helix Bridge, a pedestrian link connecting Marina Centre and Marina South in the bustling Marina Bay area of Singapore, ranked 16th in a list of the world’s 19 most beautiful bridges by British magazine Time Out.

“Both science fans and left-handed travellers may feel a special affinity for Singapore’s Helix Bridge. The 280-meter, stainless steel walkway resembles the distinctive DNA structure of lefties, with the letters c, g, a, and t (the four nucleotide bases of DNA) glowing from the double-helix structure at night,” the magazine wrote.

Opened in 2010, the bridge is known for its distinctive double helix structure and offers four viewing platforms with stunning panoramic views of the city skyline, Marina Bay Sands, and the ArtScience Museum.

Visitors can enjoy an evening stroll on the Helix Bridge and take in Singapore’s vibrant nightlife.

The ranking was compiled by tourism experts using three core criteria: distinctive architectural design, seamless integration with the surrounding landscape, and prominence in international media coverage.

This periodic ranking aims to honor architectural works that perfectly combine construction techniques and aesthetic value, serving as tourism icons for their respective countries, Time Out said.

Other bridges in the list were Golden Bridge in Vietnam, Double Decker Root Bridge in India, Brooklyn Bridge in the U.S., Capilano Suspension Bridge in Canada and The Circle Bridge in Denmark.
