The third phase of SIR has started across the country. Under this, the Election Commission of India has announced the draft voter list in several states and union territories including Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Odisha, Manipur, Mizoram and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. If you suspect that your name has been removed from the electoral roll during this process, now you can check it online at home very easily. The process of downloading this deleted list has been made very easy by visiting the Election Commission website.
The list can be accessed through your mobile or computer by visiting the official portal of the Election Commission or the website of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the respective state. First of all one has to go to Voters Seva Portal and select ‘Download Electoral Roll’ option. Then select your state, district, assembly constituency and preferred language. After completing this process the PDF file of your respective polling station will be downloaded. Note specially that the list of shortlisted voters is given separately in the last pages of this official document, where you can easily check your name and EPIC number.
Apart from this, you can also download the list of deleted names from the CEO portal of the State Election Commission. For this one has to go to the official website of the state and click on ‘Electoral Roll’, ‘E-Roll PDF’ or ‘Draft Roll’ section. Then after selecting the assembly and polling station and filling the captcha code the PDF file will be downloaded.
If your name is included in the reduced list, then there is no need to panic as the Election Commission provides an opportunity for citizens to re-register. Eligible voters can apply to add their name to the electoral roll again by filling the required form on the online portal. After successfully submitting the application, keep the reference number safe so that the status can be tracked in future.
