Situation in Uttarkashi remains sensitive for the second day due to demand for removal of mosque, Section 163 imposed

The situation in Uttarkashi is tense after the lathi charge and stone pelting on Thursday. The District Magistrate has also imposed prohibitory order under Section 163 BNSS. The meeting between the district administration and the police continued late in the evening regarding maintaining law and order.

There is a tense situation in the district headquarters Uttarkashi. Workers of Hindu organization have gathered in the hall of Vishwanath temple complex. There is anger among the workers regarding the lathicharge by the police on Thursday. Workers of Hindu organization raised slogans against the police administration in the Vishwanath Pari Temple complex.

At the same time, Sanyukta Sanatan Dharma Rakshak Sangh has expressed anger over the lathi charge by the police and the blocking of Vishwanath Tirah by barricading. Samyukt Sanatan Dharma Rakshak Sangh has also called for Uttarkashi market bandh on Friday. Also warned of jam on Gangotri National Highway.

Gangotri Highway remained blocked for two and a half hours, pilgrims upset

Uttarkashi: On Thursday, police barricaded Vishwanath Tirah on Gangotri National Highway to control the procession demanding removal of the mosque. When the procession reached Vishwanath Tirah at around one o'clock. After which the highway was kept closed for vehicular traffic as well as pedestrian traffic till 3.30 pm. During this period, the local people including the pilgrims had to face a lot of problems.

Apart from the pilgrims, school children also had to face a lot of trouble. Due to which the worries of the parents also increased. In fact, due to the procession demonstration of Hindu organization in Uttarkashi, the police started controlling the movement of vehicles on Gangotri Highway from 10 am itself.

Vehicles of pilgrims and local people going to Gangotri Dham and returning from Gangotri Dham were sent through Tikhala Joshiyara Badethi bypass. Pilgrims who had to come to Uttarkashi market or Gyansu area also had to travel an additional six kilometers.

Apart from this, when children were dismissed from schools in the afternoon, they were also not able to reach their homes on time. Children of Gyansu, Badethi, Ladadi, Joshiada, Main Bazaar Uttarkashi, Bhatwadi Road, Lakseshwar, Kot Bangla reached at five in the evening instead of two o'clock. Some children remained sitting in vehicles for hours.

Had to wander for tea and water

Uttarkashi: The market is completely closed in Uttarkashi on Thursday on the call of Hindu organization. Even tea and water are not available to the pilgrims in the market. Some shops were open during the morning. Those shops were closed by the workers of Hindu organization. Local people also had to wander to get tea and water.
