Indigo Flight Crisis: The crisis of the country’s largest airline IndiGo is not ending even on the seventh day. Between 1 and 7 December 2025, around 5.86 lakh tickets were canceled and ₹569.65 crore passengers had to be refunded. A total of 9.55 lakh tickets were canceled between November 21 and December 7, resulting in a huge refund amount of ₹827 crore so far. As the problems of passengers are increasing, the pressure on the airlines is also increasing.
Flight cancellations continue
On December 8, IndiGo promised to operate 1,802 flights to 137 out of 138 destinations, but still had to cancel 500 flights. More than 650 flights were canceled the previous day. The airline says that the situation is gradually improving and efforts are being made to normalize operations by December 10.
CEO Peter Albers said that a “root cause analysis” of this entire crisis will be conducted soon. The company also clarified that there is no shortage of pilots, but the real reason was the lack of buffer in crew planning after the new FDTL system.
IndiGo issue echoed in Parliament
The crisis became so big that the issue was raised in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The opposition asked the government what steps it was taking on the chaos taking place at airports across the country.
Meanwhile, the parliamentary committee can also summon DGCA and IndiGo officials, so that the entire issue can be understood.
The government showed strong displeasure
Civil Aviation Minister in Rajya Sabha Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu Said that Indigo’s internal planning and crew rostering irregularities have caused huge problems to the passengers. He clearly said, “The government will not take this lightly, and the action will be such that it becomes a lesson for others too.” Here, the Supreme Court refused to immediately hear the petition filed against IndiGo and said that the government has already taken steps. hearing now 10th December Will happen.

Heavy fall in IndiGo shares
The company’s shares were also hit by the crisis. InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. Shares fell more than 7% as soon as the market opened on Monday morning. As of 11:30 am, the stock was trading at ₹4971.75, showing a decline of 7.44%.
