Liu ended America’s 24-year wait for a women’s individual skating gold with a dynamic free skate featuring seven triples on Feb. 19.

She also won team gold with the United States and performed along with her teammates at the gala.

The gala on Feb. 21 included Olympic figure skating medallists and invited skaters including former Italian Olympic medallist Carolina Kostner.

“I was really trying to portray myself and my own personal style,” said Liu, 20, in a blue costume.

“The buttons are colored to be the same colors as the Olympic rings – green, red, yellow, blue and black. It’s very much my style.”

Liu’s performance at the gala has been widely shared online and won hundreds of thousands of hearts and compliments, including from PinkPantheress herself.

“I love her. She’s so adorable,” the singer told Vogue.
