Skyscanner integrates ChatGPT to enable conversational flight search in India
Travel platform Skyscanner has introduced a new integration with ChatGPTenabling users to search and compare flights using a conversational interface. The feature is currently available to users in India, according to company statements and media reports.
The integration allows travellers to access flight options directly within the chat interface without switching between multiple tabs or applications. Users can install the Skyscanner app from within ChatGPT’s app ecosystem and initiate searches using natural language prompts.
For instance, users can type queries such as “find me the cheapest flight to Brazil in April” by tagging the Skyscanner tool. The system then generates a list of available flights, including pricing, routes, airlines, and travel duration, all within the same conversation window.
According to the company, the results are updated in real time, allowing users to compare multiple options efficiently. The interface also supports follow-up queries, enabling travellers to refine searches by adjusting dates, destinations, or departure points without restarting the process.
The feature builds on Skyscanner’s existing fare comparison engine and adapts it to a chat-based environment. It continues to draw data from its network of airline partners to provide comprehensive search results.
Industry observers note that such integrations reflect a broader shift toward AI-driven travel planning tools, where conversational interfaces simplify complex search processes. By embedding its services into ChatGPT, Skyscanner aims to streamline the user experience and reduce the need for manual browsing across multiple websites.
The company also indicated that it is exploring additional applications of artificial intelligence across various stages of travel planning, including trip discovery and fare comparison.
The rollout marks a step toward more integrated digital ecosystems in the travel sector, where users can plan and manage trips within a single interface, leveraging AI for faster and more personalized results.
