Bad news for Australia before the final of ICC World Test Championship 2025, key player injured
Delhi: The Australian team will soon go on a tour of Sri Lanka, where it will play a two-match Test series. The first match of this series will start from January 29, but even before that the Kangaroo team has suffered a big setback. The team's star spinner Matt Kuhneman is injured.
Let us tell you that currently the Big Bash League (BBL) is being played in Australia, where Kuhneman is a part of the Brisbane Heat team. He got injured while fielding during a match played on Thursday night, where his right hand got seriously injured and he had to leave the field due to pain. Seeing the seriousness of the injury, his teammate Marnus Labuschagne also looked worried.
Labuschagne said after the match, “Sorry to hear about Matt's injury. “His thumb doesn’t look in good condition.”
Considering the spin-friendly pitches of Sri Lanka, the Australian team will need good spin bowlers and Kuhneman's injury can prove to be a big blow for the team. However, Australia has already made it to the final of the World Test Championship, so they might be looking at this series as a practice before the final. Kangaroos will face South Africa in the final. This match will be played at the historic ground of Lord's from June 11. In such a situation, the spinner's injury is no less than a big blow for Australia.
The Australian team against Sri Lanka is as follows –
Steve Smith (captain), Travis Head (vice-captain), Sean Abbott, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Constas, Matt Kuhneman, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Nathan McSweeney, Todd Murphy, Mitchell Stark, Beau Webster.
