Strong performance by Kusal Mendis-Teekshana, Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand and captured the ODI series 2-0.

SL vs NZ: The second match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is being played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Sri Lanka won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first. Due to rain this match was played in 47-47 overs. Batting first, the New Zealand team was limited to 209 runs. In reply, Sri Lanka achieved the target by losing 7 wickets. Kushal Mendis played an unbeaten inning of 74 runs for Sri Lanka. While Mahish Tikshna contributed 27 unbeaten runs. With this victory, Sri Lanka captured the 3-match ODI series 2-0.

The start of the Sri Lankan team, which came to chase the target of 210 runs, was not special. Avishka Fernando walked out after scoring 5 runs. After this, Pathum Nissanka was out after scoring 28 runs. After this, Kamindu Mendis left without opening the account. Then Charith Asalanka returned to the pavilion after scoring 13 runs. Whereas Kushal Mendis stayed till the end and along with Mahish Tikshina, helped Sri Lanka win by 3 wickets. Kushal Mendis remained unbeaten after scoring 74 runs on 102 balls. Whereas Mahish Tikshna played an unbeaten inning of 27 runs on 44 balls. Michael Bracewell took maximum 4 wickets for New Zealand. Mitchell Santner, Nathan Smith and Glenn Phillips got 1-1 success.

For New Zealand, Mark Chapman played the highest innings of 76 runs on 81 balls. Whereas Mitchell Hay scored 40 runs on 62 balls. While Will Young contributed 26 runs and Glenn Phillips contributed 15 runs. Whereas for Sri Lanka, Jeffrey Vandersay and Mahish Tikshina took 3 wickets each. Whereas Asitha Fernando took 2 wickets. While Dunith Velalage and Charith Asalanka got 1-1 success.
