Smart wheelchair tops, IoT and defense projects dominate the exhibition of student innovations
Lucknow, Read: Department of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh. The innovative projects of the students attracted attention in the demonstration and evaluation program of innovation based projects of final year engineering students organized by the Council of Science and Technology. The program was organized at Vigyan Bhawan, Nabiullah Road, where students from various technical institutes of the state presented models based on solutions to socially useful and environmental problems.
Under this scheme, which has been operating since 2017, this time a total of 399 projects were received from across the state in the 2025-26 session. After evaluation by the expert committee, 60 projects were selected for a maximum grant amount of up to Rs 20 thousand. An advance amount of Rs 10,000 was also provided to the selected projects in the initial phase.
During the programme, students effectively presented the utility, innovation and social significance of their projects. Experts also gave guidance by evaluating the projects on the basis of their practicality and innovation.
Smart wheelchair got first prize
In the competition, Anuj Kumar Yadav and his team from Goyal Institute of Technology and Management were awarded the first prize (Rs 1 lakh) for the project “IoT based smart wheelchair”. This wheelchair includes features like voice control, collision avoidance and health monitoring.
The second prize (Rs 75 thousand) was given to Yash Chandra of Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College for the defense project related to ballistic application, while the third prize (Rs 50 thousand) was given to Pranav Choudhary of IET Group of Institutions for the automatic garbage collection system project.
Apart from this, consolation prizes were distributed to other participants and certificates were distributed to all the students and their guides.
Experts appreciated the level of innovations
In the second session of the program, Joint Director Dr. Huma Mustafa gave the welcome address and appreciated the departmental work. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Gangwar conducted the stage, while Dr. Radhelal presented the outline of the program.
Chief guest Ramesh Chandra, Special Secretary (Science & Technology), presented the awards to the winners.
