Smog continues to wreak havoc in Delhi! Rules like lockdown, laborers are busy, so much money came into the account

The pollution level in Delhi has once again reached a dangerous point. By 7 am on Thursday, Delhi’s average AQI reached 410, which falls in the category above ‘severe’. Many strict rules are already in place under GRAP-4, but the air condition is not improving. Now the government has taken a big decision which is going to directly benefit lakhs of laborers of Delhi-NCR.

Workers fight hard, will get huge help!

The Delhi government has announced that a one-time financial assistance of Rs 5,000 will be given to all registered construction workers for the entire period that GRAP-4 is in force. This money will come directly into their bank account. So far, more than 90 thousand laborers have registered for this and the government has said that money transfer will start soon. Labor brothers and sisters are happy because their income stops due to closure of work in winter, but this time the government has taken care of them.

Lockdown like situation, will Delhi be closed?

Although a complete lockdown has not been imposed, the rules of GRAP-4 are so strict that the situation is almost like a lockdown. There is a complete ban on all construction work, demolition and mining. According to media reports, a fine of up to Rs 20,000 is being imposed for driving BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel vehicles. Entry of trucks and buses from outside is closed in Delhi (except CNG and electric). Schools and colleges are already running online and only 50% of the employees are coming to government offices.

How long will this strict environment last?

The Meteorological Department says that by December 20-21, the wind speed may increase slightly, which may provide some relief in pollution. But for now, GRAP-4 will remain in full force and if needed, more stringent measures can be taken. Delhiites should not forget to wear masks and go out of the house less!
