Sneeze-cough-fever when wet in the rain? Make ‘Immunity Booster’ Chabanprash at home instead of buying it

Colds and fevers are common in monsoons. Strong medicine also leaves the taste in the mouth, and the stomach remains. The elders of the house say that to fight such problems properly, it is necessary to eat Chabanprash regularly. But marketed Chavanprash contains little artificial ingredients. Preservatives are also added to extend shelf life.

So, if you have some time, you can make Chyawanprash at home with pure ingredients. It will increase immunity. Stronger from the inside than the body. If you can consume it regularly, you will never suffer from sneezing and coughing in summer, monsoon and winter.

Everything you need to make it—

• 1 kg fresh amlaki
• 1 cup pure ghee
• 500 g jaggery (grated)
• 2–3 tablespoons of honey
• 2 bay leaves
• Large pieces of cinnamon (about 2 inches in size)
• 10–12 cloves
• 10–12 green cardamoms
• 1 teaspoon of pepper powder
• 1 tbsp dry ginger powder
• Half a nutmeg

How to make?

Wash the amlaki well. Boil in little water or can also just steam. Steam till it becomes soft and bursts. When cool, discard the seeds. Blend the soft parts in a blender to make a fine paste.

Dry roast the cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, peppercorns and bay leaves on low heat for about 30 seconds. Mix dry ginger powder and nutmeg with them and make a dry powder. Care should be taken that it does not get mixed with water in any way.

Heat ghee in a pan. Add the amlaki paste to it and keep stirring continuously on low flame, so that the excess water dries up. At some point the mixture will get glossy. Now add grated dry jaggery and prepared masala powder to it. Stir again on low heat, until the mixture starts to thicken and leave the sides of the pan. Allow the mixture to cool completely. Then add honey and stir well. Indeed, Chavanprash is like a home-made shop.

Store in a clean, dry and airtight glass bottle. Chavanprash will be good for about 3 months if stored in a cool place. However, if it gets watered anyway, it can spoil, or a layer of white fungus can grow on it.
