‘SNL’ cold open spots Trump mock Tiger Woods in chaotic calls
Saturday Night Live started its latest episode with a chaotic political spoof, as James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump fielded a string of bizarre “urgent” calls from the Oval Office.
The cold open leaned into the show’s signature satire, with the former president dialling figures played by Kenan Thompson, Chloe Fineman, and Colin Jost in increasingly absurd exchanges.
First up, Trump rang Tiger Woods, opening with: “Tiger! It’s Donald! What’s going on, are you playing in the Masters this weekend?”
Woods replied, “No, sir. I don’t know if you remember but I flipped my car and got a DUI.” Trump quipped, “Oh, right. A DUI,” before joking, “As in, ‘Do he drive on pills?’ Yes he do.”
As the exchange flared, Trump suggested Woods should have mentioned their friendship to avoid trouble with the police, later brushing off the situation with, “If only there was something I could have done to help. Oh well, want to play some golf?”
Woods, however, noted he was in rehab in Switzerland before Trump abruptly ended the call.
The sketch then taken to Melania, with Fineman’s version pitching a random speech declaring she was “not Epstein victim,” prompting Trump to respond, “Darling, I gotta admit, this sounds a little insane. Who are you? Me?”
Closing the bit, Trump checked in on Iran with Hegseth, who delivered an over-the-top update, while Trump insisted ceasefire talks were “going really, really bad,” adding that sending JD Vance only made matters worse.
