Weather Update: Weather fluctuations continue across the country. In the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature in many areas of Kashmir and Ladakh dropped below 5 degrees. The temperature is below 5 degrees in some areas of Himachal Pradesh and North Punjab. The minimum temperature in many areas of South Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Western Uttar Pradesh, North Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, North Vidarbha and North Chhattisgarh remained between 5 degrees to 10 degrees.
Hisar in Haryana was the coldest. The minimum temperature recorded here was 2.5 degrees. The Meteorological Department says that there is a possibility of dense fog in the night and morning in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh and Western Uttar Pradesh till December 31. This situation may last till January 1 in eastern Uttar Pradesh. After that the fog is expected to reduce gradually. Dense fog is likely to occur in the morning and evening over East Madhya Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh till today, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, Assam-Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Odisha till January 1. Today there is a strong possibility of cold wave conditions in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Bihar. A western disturbance may affect the western Himalayan region from tomorrow. Its effects may also be visible in the plains from December 31.
How will the weather be in Delhi?
The weather is likely to be generally clear in Delhi today. There is dense shade in many areas in the morning. The maximum temperature is expected to be 21 to 23 degrees and the minimum temperature is expected to be 7 to 9 degrees. In the morning the winds are blowing from the west direction. Their speed is 15 km/hour. The wind is expected to blow in the north-west direction from late afternoon till night.

The effect of snowfall in Himachal Pradesh has reached the plains. The cold has intensified in Uttar Pradesh also. In many districts including Barabanki, Kanpur, the temperature has gone 5 degrees below normal. Etawah remained the coldest in the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature recorded here was 5.6 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, the cold is likely to increase further from today to December 31. Severe cold may persist in Uttar Pradesh for the next 3 days. There will be dense fog in many areas. Due to north-westerly winds, cold day like conditions may arise during the day.

In Bihar, people are facing chill due to dense fog and cold winds. People are forced to stay in their homes due to lack of sunlight for many days. The Meteorological Department estimates that there is no possibility of relief from fog and cold days. Dense fog is expected in Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal and many districts of North Bihar today and tomorrow morning.

Weather in Rajasthan
Due to cold wave in Jaipur division, winter has taken a severe form. The minimum temperature went below 5 degrees in 7 cities of the state. At night, the dew lying in the fields and open areas looked like a light layer of snow at many places. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of cold wave in five cities for today. According to Meteorological Center Jaipur, there is a possibility of cold wave in Alwar, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Churu and Didwana-Kuchaman.
Chance of rain and snowfall
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from tomorrow till January 2. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may also receive rain or snow at isolated places during this period. Rain is expected in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Western UP and Rajasthan between December 31 and January 1.
