Jaipur:- So far 14 people have died in the massive fire incident on Ajmer Highway. More than 30 people are injured in this tragic accident, out of which 28 people have suffered more than 80% burns. All these seriously burnt people are currently fighting for life and death. The condition of many of the injured remains critical. Doctors say that the death toll may increase further. The magnitude of the accident has shocked everyone.

Dead bodies will be identified through DNA test

After the accident, many bodies have been burnt so badly that their identification has become difficult. The government has decided to use DNA test to identify the dead bodies. Samples have been taken from Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Jaipur. There are six dead bodies whose identification has not been possible yet. The permit of the bus involved in this accident had expired 16 months ago, which is raising questions.

LPG tanker and truck collided

On December 20, at around 6 am, a massive explosion occurred after the collision of an LPG tanker and a truck on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway. The flames were so strong that about 40 vehicles were burnt to ashes and more than 20 passengers traveling in the sleeper bus were badly burnt. Many videos of this horrific scene surfaced, in which burnt bodies and injured passengers were seen groaning in pain.

Supreme Court Committee asked for report
Considering the seriousness of the accident, the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety has sought a report from the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan by January 20. A special committee has been formed to investigate the accident. This committee will investigate every aspect of the accident, which will also include the role of road construction and transport departments. Initial investigation has revealed negligence of the transport department.

Compensation announced for the dead and injured

The Rajasthan government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the injured. The central government has also announced an assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased. 28 year old female constable Anita Meena also died in this accident. Constable Meena's body was identified from the anklets.

The bus permit had expired 16 months ago

The permit of the accident bus had expired 16 months ago. AITP also ended on 8 July 2024. It was the responsibility of the RTO to stop the bus from plying on the road. After the accident, bus owner Abdul Salim Khan claimed that the bus does not run daily. But online records revealed that he was taking bookings regularly.
