Social Media: Now people under 16 years of age will not be able to use social media in Australia. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Thursday (7 November) that children under 16 will not be allowed to use social media in Australia, to protect the mental health of young people. Also, the companies concerned will have to implement the new rules or face fines. According to the Prime Minister, a bill to this effect will be introduced in the Australian Parliament this year.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the onus would be on social media platforms to show they are taking meaningful steps to prevent access. This will not be the responsibility of the parents or the youth. PM Albanese said, “Social media is harming our children. I request time on this. After several studies confirmed that the use of social media is having a negative impact on children under 15 years of age, the PM has promised to bring a law in Parliament.

PM Albanese said, “The onus will be on social media platforms to demonstrate that they are taking appropriate steps to prevent this access. This responsibility will not be of the youth or parents. There will be no provision for action against users.

This country has also taken steps

In France, social media users under the age of 15 are required to obtain parental permission. Some countries have recommended limiting the use of platforms like TikTok and Instagram for children under 13.
