Ricky Morton declines Ric Flair rematch offer: ‘Some Moments Don’t Need a Sequel’

Ricky Morton put all rumours to rest after officially declining the offer to step in the wrestling cage for the final bout against long-time rival Ric Flair.

The speculation began to circulate when “Nature Boy” revealed during a virtual fan signing that he was offered a fight against Morton but they couldn’t reach a financial agreement.

The idea of two legends facing each other once again excited the wrestling fans, but Morton instantly dismissed all the claims, saying that after Flair’s retirement in 2022, a “sequel” was not necessary.

The veteran noted that, “As cool and exciting as it sounds, I’m going to have to pass on the idea of one more match vs. Ric Flair.”

He further made it clear, “Ric already had his last match and it was an honour to be part of that show. Some moments don’t need a sequel. They need to be respected, remembered, and celebrated forever.”

69-year-old Morton is still actively participating in independent leagues and he has not officially announced his retirement. However, he announced a final goodbye match before leaving the ring:

“If we ever were to do it. It would be on my terms. It would either be in a @GCWrestling_or @nwa wrestling ring.”
