Sonam Wangchuk’s pain spills over allegations of ‘deal’, asks – ‘Will I still have to prove my honesty?’
New Delhi: Famous activist Sonam Wangchuk, who became the face of the ongoing student movement led by ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, has finally ended her 26-day long fast. He broke his fast by taking fluids at Medanta Hospital in the presence of Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh. However, Wangchuk has broken his silence by releasing a video message on the questions being raised on social media regarding the manner of ending the fast and the presence of Union Ministers.

A video of Sonam Wangchuk recorded from the hospital bed has surfaced, in which she looks very weak and thin. In this video, he has shared his deep heartache and told that the 26 days long hunger strike has had a very bad effect on his body. During this period his weight has decreased by 11 kg.

Who remains hungry for 26 days to bargain?
Rejecting allegations of any backroom political dealings, Wangchuk asked the critics a direct question. He said, who remains hungry for 26 days to bargain? He is asking the critics directly whether he will have to take a character certificate of the sanctity of his fast? He sarcastically said that if he had to make a deal or compromise, would he have sat hungry on the streets of Delhi in the scorching heat and sun for 26 days? Bargainers negotiate sitting in air-conditioned rooms, rather than drying their bodies to such an extent.
CJP stands firm on resignation of Education Minister
Wangchuk has clarified that he has decided to end the fast only on the basis of written assurances and to prevent any kind of possible violence in the country. He has said that his health was continuously deteriorating for the last 4-5 days, hence he was being repeatedly requested to withdraw his fast.
How long will the peaceful protest continue?
CJP clarified that there is no contradiction between Wangchuk withdrawing his fast and his ongoing movement. The party says that the government’s announcements of setting up fast-track courts and making new laws are welcome steps, but they do not eliminate the root of the problem. CJP has made it clear that their peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
