Sonbhadra Police’s campaign against drink and drive continues, effective action taken against vehicles violating traffic rules

Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Sonbhadra Abhishek Verma, as part of the special campaign being run to strengthen the road safety and traffic system in the district, on 09.05.2026, under the leadership of Area Traffic Officer Dr. Charu Dwivedi, an intensive vehicle checking campaign was conducted under the prevalent two-day special campaign against drink and drive near the toll plaza located in Lodhi. During the campaign, thorough checking of vehicles was done jointly by Traffic Inspector (TI), Traffic Sub Inspector (TSI) and CC team Robertsganj.

During the checking, effective action was taken against the drivers found involved in drink and drive, driving under the influence of alcohol, violating traffic rules and using pressure horns. During the proceedings, 03 trucks were seized and challans were issued to 02 vehicles. Apart from this, in view of noise pollution and violation of traffic rules, disciplinary action was taken against 30 vehicles for using pressure horns.

During the campaign, drivers were also made aware to follow road safety rules, not to drive under the influence of alcohol, to drive within the prescribed speed limit and not to use pressure horns. Such campaigns will continue in future also by Sonbhadra Police to prevent road accidents and maintain safe traffic system in the district.
