Song Controversy: There is war and gas shortage in the world, then why so much ruckus over a song? KD Director Prem’s counterattack

News India Live, Digital Desk: After the huge uproar across the country over the famous song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ from the Kannada film ‘KD: The Devil’, the film’s director Prem has now presented his clarification. Responding to the allegations of obscene and double meaning lyrics, Prem said that this controversy is being made bigger unnecessarily. Citing other problems of the world, he raised the question that when there are big crises in the world like war and LPG gas, why are people after a song? ‘I wrote the song keeping bottles and pickles in mind.’ Director Prem clarified while talking to the media that the original Kannada lyrics written by him have been misinterpreted. He said, “I wrote this song in the context of an alcohol bottle and pickle, and not with any obscene intention. I come from a village where words like ‘don’t drop, pick up’ are part of everyday conversation (Janapada).” He further said that he was not fully aware of how the words were selected in the Hindi translation as he is not that comfortable with the Hindi language. Amidst the controversy, Nora Fatehi and the lyricist dusted off the controversy regarding the song Pallais. The controversy regarding the song increased further when actress Nora Fatehi completely distanced herself from the Hindi version of this song. Nora claimed that she had shot the song in Kannada 3 years ago and had no idea about the ‘slut’ lyrics in Hindi. At the same time, Hindi lyricist Rakib Alam also issued a statement saying that he had only translated the Kannada lyrics of the director and he himself felt insulted by these words. After huge protests and notice from NHRC, now the makers have removed this song from YouTube. ‘KD is not a controversy, it is an emotional film’ Director Prem rejected the allegations of getting publicity through controversies. He said, “KD is a very emotional and big budget film. I would never want such negative publicity for my film. The song was made only to dance in parties.” Prem has announced that the controversial lyrics have now been changed and the corrected version of the song will be re-released soon after approval from the censor board. He also said that if anyone’s sentiments have been hurt, he apologizes for it.
