Sonia Gandhi admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Rahul’s Kerala tour cancelled, doctors gave this update on health

New Delhi. The condition of senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is stable and she is undergoing treatment for a possible infection in the stomach and urinary tract. This information was given by the doctors of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. He said that 79-year-old Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi for routine medical check-up on Tuesday evening.

Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said in a statement that Sonia Gandhi’s condition is stable. Doctors are conducting further tests to rule out possible infections in the stomach and urinary tract. A team of doctors is closely monitoring his condition and he has been given antibiotics, the statement said. Gandhi was admitted to the hospital at 10.30 pm on Tuesday evening after feeling unwell.

Rahul canceled Kerala tour

Due to concerns over Sonia Gandhi’s health, her son Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday canceled his scheduled visit to Kerala. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was to launch his campaign for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections with a public meeting in Kozhikode on Wednesday evening. The rally is being organized by the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) at Kozhikode beach at 4.30 pm.

Congress sources said that now Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will address the rally in place of Rahul. The Congress Parliamentary Party President felt some discomfort due to change in weather and has been kept under observation. The doctors treating him have indicated that there is nothing to worry about. A party functionary had said that in June last year, when she was on a private visit to the state with her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, she was taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital in Shimla after she complained of high blood pressure. Sonia Gandhi turned 79 in December last year and is currently serving as a Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan.
