Sonu Nigam postpones Delhi concert amid student movement, new date announced
Tezzbuzz Desk- Amidst the ongoing student movement in Delhi, famous Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam has postponed his concert to be held on July 25. This special program being organized to pay tribute to Mohammed Rafi will now be organized on a new date. Apart from this, comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi has also decided to carry forward his show, while actress Soha Ali Khan has postponed the release of her podcast.
The capital Delhi has been the center of student protests for some time now over the alleged NEET paper leak issue. Discussion is going on across the country regarding the demands of the students and many people are raising their voice in their support. Many stars from the entertainment world have also shown solidarity with the students and appealed for talks between the government and the protesting students. In this sequence, Sonu Nigam also decided to postpone his concert to be held in Delhi. The singer was to perform in a tribute concert named ‘BOSSitivity- Sonu Nigam Remembers Rafi’ on July 25 at Yashobhoomi Convention Center in Dwarka. This program was dedicated to the great singer Mohammad Rafi and there was a lot of enthusiasm among music lovers about it.
However, in view of the current situation in Delhi and the students’ agitation, the program was postponed. Information about the concert was removed from many ticket booking platforms on Friday morning and it later emerged that the event will now be held on August 15. Sonu Nigam also clarified that the decision to go ahead with the concert has been taken keeping in mind the atmosphere of the city. This decision also came into discussion after a viral video of Sonu Nigam. Recently, during a program, when the paparazzi asked him questions on the student movement and the paper leak issue, he looked uncomfortable. After some time, he ended the conversation by refusing to answer questions. However, his decision to postpone the concert is being seen by many as a show of support and sensitivity towards the students.
Apart from Sonu Nigam, comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi has also postponed his show to be held at Talkatora Stadium on July 25. He informed about this decision in his own style on social media. Bassi said that it would not be appropriate to organize the program at a time when students are struggling for their demands. He drew attention to the serious issue in a humorous manner and decided to do the show later. At the same time, actress Soha Ali Khan has also stopped the release of her podcast for some time. He said that at this time the voice of the students should get priority and he has taken this decision in respect of their struggle.
After these decisions, the stance of many personalities from the entertainment world is being discussed. The actions of Sonu Nigam, Anubhav Singh Bassi and Soha Ali Khan show that public figures are also reacting to social and student issues and making changes in their schedules if needed.
