Specifications of Sony PS5 Pro
The new Sony PS5 Pro features a number of hardware upgrades, which PS5 Pro chief architect Mark Cerny claims will increase rendering speeds by up to 45 percent. This improvement will provide better detail at certain frame rates in select games. According to Sony, there are three major improvements:
1. An upgraded GPU with 67 percent more compute units and 28 percent faster memory than the existing PS5 Slim.
2. Advanced ray tracing capabilities, allowing more dynamic reflection and refraction of light in supported titles. Cerny said this enables rays to be cast at double and sometimes triple the speed of existing PS5 consoles.
3. New AI-powered upscaling technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, which uses machine learning to deliver sharp images in select games.
Additionally, the PS5 Pro includes a Game Boost feature that makes over 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games playable on the new console. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 and variable refresh rate (VRR) and 8K resolution in some regions.
