South Africa also defeated Zimbabwe, now there will be a semi-final battle with New Zealand
South Africa’s winning streak continues in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The team captained by Aiden Markram has defeated Zimbabwe in its last Super-8 match. In this match played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Zimbabwe had set a target of 154 runs for South Africa, which the Proteas team easily achieved by losing 5 wickets in 17.5 overs. With this win, the South African team has reached the semi-finals while remaining unbeaten, where it will face New Zealand on March 4. This match will be played at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.
Sikandar Raza’s hard work goes waste
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa gave shocks to the Zimbabwean team at regular intervals. However, captain Sikandar Raza remained at one end and scored 73 runs in 43 balls with the help of 8 fours and 4 sixes, taking Zimbabwe to a respectable score. Clive Madande contributed unbeaten 26 runs in 20 balls. For South Africa, Kwena Mafaka and Corbin Bosch took 2-2 wickets.
After doing wonders with the bat, Sikandar Raza broke South Africa’s opening pair in the very first over. Raza clean bowled Proteas team captain Aidan Markram (4). In the next over, he dismissed Quinton de Kock (0), reducing South Africa’s score to 14/2. After this, Brand Evans took the wicket of Ryan Rickleton (31) in the last over of the powerplay. South Africa’s score was 43/3 and Zimbabwe looked set to pull off another upset but Dewald Brewis and David Miller put them on the backfoot with a half-century partnership.
Blessing Muzarabani took the wicket of Miller (22) on the last ball of the 10th over. In the next over, Raza raised Zimbabwe’s hopes by sending Brevis (42) to the pavilion. But Tristan Stubbs and George Linde froze. They made an unbeaten 53-run partnership and nullified Raza’s hard work.
