Disappointing performance of opening batsmen
The biggest weakness of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2026 has been its opening pair. In the first match of Super-8, the Indian openers were out on 0 without scoring any runs. Earlier, the opening partnership against America was only 8 runs, against Namibia the first wicket fell for 25 runs, against Pakistan for 1 run and against Netherlands for 0 runs. The consistent failure of the openers put immense pressure on the middle order.
The team could not even handle the middle order
After the openers returned to the pavilion early, the team continued to suffer setbacks. Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma could not do anything, while Tilak Verma was out for only 1 run. Washington Sundar scored 11 runs and Suryakumar Yadav returned to the pavilion on 18 runs. Hardik Pandya scored 18 runs, while Rinku Singh could not even open his account. This failure of the middle order proved to be decisive for Team India.
Shivam Dubey showed some better shots
Shivam Dubey played some good shots in the middle field of Team India. He scored 42 runs facing 37 balls. However, even his efforts were not enough to lead the team to victory. India’s batting was a complete flop, due to which the first match in the Super-8 ended in favor of South Africa.

India’s concern in Super-8
The continuous failure of India’s openers and middle order in the Super-8 has become a matter of concern for the team. Due to the failure of the openers and pressure on the middle order, the team had to face a heavy defeat in the very first match of the Super-8. Now it is very important for India to improve in the next matches and increase the ability to score runs.
