SA vs AFG: South Africa saved its honor, won the third ODI against Afghanistan

Sharjah: In the ongoing ODI series between South Africa and Afghanistan, South Africa saved itself from a clean sweep and held Afghanistan to a 2-1 lead. However, the series went in Afghanistan's favour, which Afghanistan won 2-1.

South Africa won the third and final ODI cricket match by seven wickets and prevented Afghanistan from whitewashing the series. Thanks to Aiden Markram's unbeaten 69, South Africa chased the target of 170 runs and registered an easy win by scoring 170 runs for three wickets with 17 overs remaining.

Earlier, Afghanistan's team collapsed for just 169 runs in 34 overs. Afghanistan won the series 2-1. South Africa's inexperienced team was reduced to 106 and 134 runs in the first two matches. But, once again on the slow pitch at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Markram played a good innings and ensured his team's victory.

Aiden Markram's unbeaten 69-run innings helped South Africa chase down the target of 170 for three with 17 overs to spare.

Afghanistan innings

For Afghanistan, last match's centurion Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 89 runs in 94 balls. However, no other batsman in the team's top eight could score more than 10 runs. Three of these batsmen were run out. AM Ghazanfar, who came to bat at number nine, scored an unbeaten 31 runs in 15 balls.

South Africa innings

For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi, Nkabyomzi Peter and Andile Phehlukwayo took two wickets each. Chasing the target, South Africa lost the wickets of openers Tony DiGeorge (26) and captain Temba Bavuma (22) and Reeza Hendricks (18) for 80 runs in the 19th over.

After this, Markram and Tristan Stubbs (26 not out) made an unbroken partnership of 90 runs for the fourth wicket and gave South Africa the victory. Markram hit three sixes and four fours in his 67-ball innings.
