South Africa prevented Afghanistan from completing a clean sweep

South Africa prevented Afghanistan from whitewashing the series by winning the third and final ODI cricket match by seven wickets.

Thanks to Aiden Markram's unbeaten innings of 69 runs, South Africa chased down the target of 170 runs and registered an easy win by scoring 170 runs for three wickets with 17 overs remaining.

Earlier, Afghanistan were bundled out for just 169 runs in 34 overs.

Afghanistan won the series 2–1.

South Africa's inexperienced team were bundled out for 106 and 134 in the first two matches but once again on a slow pitch at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Markram played a good innings to ensure his team's victory.

Afghanistan's last match's centurion Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 89 runs in 94 balls. However, no other batsman in the team's top eight could score more than 10 runs. Three of these batsmen were run out.

AM Ghazanfar, who came in to bat at number nine, scored an unbeaten 31 off 15 balls.
