South Africa Squad for Champions Trophy 2025: Bavuma to Lead

South Africa Squad for Champions Trophy 2025: After Australia, South Africa announced their squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. CT25 is hosted by Pakistan and will be conducted as a hybrid model with Dubai being the other venue.

Temba Bavuma will lead the 15-member squad which is powered by the return of explosive pace duo Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi.

Nortje is returning to the national side for the first time after September 2023 after getting out due to a stress fracture in his back, which also destroyed his ODI World Cup dream in 2023. Lungi has been out since October 2024 due to a groin injury.

Tony de Zorzi, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Wiaan Mulder are also added to the squad as all three will have a chance to debut in a 50-over ICC event.

South Africa Head coach Rob Walter commented on the squad announcement:

“This squad boasts a wealth of experience, with many players having consistently performed in high-pressure situations. That kind of experience is invaluable in a tournament like this.

“We’ve managed to maintain the core group of our 2023 World Cup squad, whilst adding fresh talent.

“Our recent performances at ICC events show that we’re capable of reaching the latter stages of global tournaments. We’re eager to take the next step and go even further in pursuit of the coveted silverware.
