South Africa T20 World Cup 2026 injury update

Following David Miller’s injury during the ongoing SA20 2026, Lungi Ngidi, the fast bowler of Proteas, is the newest player who has been added to the country’s list of concerns which is already getting long for the T20 World Cup 2026. Ngidi got injured while playing in the premier domestic T20 tournament, in the Qualifier 1 between the teams of Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Pretoria Capitals.
Now speaking of the Lungi Ngidi Injury Update that the fast bowler was really seen with heavy strapping even before the match started, still he began playing. He got hold of the new ball and bowled two overs but finally walked off with the Capitals’ bowling coach Shaun Pollock saying to the broadcasters that Ngidi was probably going to just loosen the strapping. No more bowling was done by him during the match.

Lungi Ngidi is not the only one in the South Africa team injury list, the others are David Miller, Tony de Zorzi, and Donovan Ferreira. Miller was hurt in the SA20 groin. De Zorzi is on his way back from a hamstring injury suffered during the India ODI series and the other one, Donovan Ferreira was suffering from a shoulder fracture.
It is worth mentioning that team changes for T20 World Cup 2026 can be made for any reason until January 31, after that, only if approved by the ICC’s Event Technical Committee in case of tournament-ending injury will the change be allowed.
