After defeating India by 76 runs, South Africa defeated West Indies by 9 wickets in the Super-8 match on Thursday. West Indies set a target of 177 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which South Africa achieved by losing just one wicket in 16.1 overs. In Group-1, South Africa has reached the top of the table with four points from two matches, while West Indies has two points from two matches. With this defeat, the pressure of net run rate has reduced for India and now Team India will have to win both its remaining matches to reach the semi-finals. India’s next match will be against Zimbabwe and then against West Indies on March 1.
Aiden Markram became player of the match
The hero of South Africa’s victory was captain Aiden Markram, who played a brilliant inning of 82 not out in 46 balls. He hit seven fours and four sixes and scored more than 50 for the third time in the tournament. Markram gave a strong start to the team by making a partnership of 95 runs for the first wicket with Quinton de Kock. De Kock missed his half-century after scoring 47 runs in 24 balls. After this, Markram and Ryan Rickelton made an unbroken partnership of 82 runs and led the team to victory. Rickelton scored unbeaten 45 runs in 28 balls.
West Indies lost five wickets in 60 runs
Batting first, West Indies scored 176 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. The team had a very bad start and five wickets fell for 60 runs within seven overs. However, thanks to Romario Shepherd’s unbeaten 52 runs and Jason Holder’s 49 runs, there was a record partnership of 89 runs for the eighth wicket, which allowed the team to reach a respectable score.

Lungi Ngidi’s lethal bowling
