South Asia initiative of UNESCO MOST BRIDGES pivots to India; Choice of TryfactaEDU Global Foundation

TryfactaEDU Global Foundation has been selected for the South Asia Regional Program Office of UNESCO’s MOST BRIDGES Coalition to promote sustainable development research and international cooperation in South Asia. The office will be set up at GIFT City in Gujarat and is likely to be operational between July and September 2026. Implementation of various programs will start from October 2026.

The decision was approved by the BRIDGES Governing Council in its meeting held on 26 June 2026. This responsibility has been conferred in recognition of the foundation’s contribution in the fields of education, research, innovation and international partnerships. This initiative will be implemented under UNESCO’s Management of Social Transformations (MOST) program and is an important part of the strategic plan from 2026 to 2028. Through this regional office, interdisciplinary research for sustainable development will be promoted by bringing together universities, research institutes, policy makers, NGOs and local communities in South Asia. Also, emphasis will be placed on effective implementation of UNESCO’s Guidelines for Sustainability Science, knowledge sharing and inclusion of new regional partners.

On this occasion the Interim President of TryfactaEDU Global Foundation Dr. John Crowley said that the establishment of this regional office in India is an important step for sustainable development research in South Asia. He expressed his belief that this will be a platform to bring together academic institutions, policymakers and society to find effective solutions to local problems.

Executive Director of UNESCO MOST BRIDGES Coalition Dr. Steven Hartmann also said that the area is of particular importance because of South Asia’s rich knowledge tradition, research capacity and participation of diverse communities. This partnership will help develop effective solutions at the local level for global sustainable development goals, he noted.

The office at GIFT City will promote research on topics such as water management, urban planning, energy, bio-ethics, environmental ethics, artificial intelligence (AI) ethics and food systems. The initiative will focus on creating new collaborations for sustainable development in South Asia through a multi-faceted approach that includes education, media, communication and the arts.
