Russia condemns Israel-US attacks on Iran

Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned the US-Israeli attacks on Iran as “premeditated and unprovoked armed aggression against a sovereign and independent UN member state” and called for an immediate halt to the military operation and a return to diplomacy. Washington and Tel Aviv are trying to force regime change in Tehran under the guise of concerns about the Iranian nuclear program, the ministry said in a statement posted on Telegram.

It said the attacks risked “humanitarian, economic and possibly radiological devastation” in the region and that the US and Israel sought to push Middle East into uncontrollable conflict. Russia described the bombings on nuclear plants under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards as “unacceptable” and said it was ready to mediate a peaceful solution. It held America and Israel entirely responsible for the increased tension.
