South Korea to launch lunar orbiter in 2029, lander in 2032, says KASA

South Korea’s space ambitions took a major step forward on Friday as the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) announced plans to launch a lunar communication orbiter in 2029followed by a lunar lander mission in 2032Yonhap reported.

KASA Administrator Yoon Young-bin said the agency intends to use the country’s domestically developed Rocket clouds for the 2029 orbiter launch. To strengthen mission stability, KASA plans to conduct at least one Nuri launch every year through 2032with the goal of pushing its success rate above 90%.

Looking further ahead, Yoon added that KASA aims to develop a reusable, next-generation launch vehicle by 2035marking South Korea’s biggest leap toward sustained space exploration capability.
