South Korean actor Ha Jung Woo sells two buildings in Seoul amid real estate slump
South Korean actor Ha Jung-woo said he had listed one of his buildings for sale two years ago to cut potential losses as the real estate market weakened.
Ha said his decision to sell the properties was unrelated to his experience filming the new tvN weekend drama “Mad Concrete Dreams,” local news outlet Chosun Biz reported.
Media reports in February said Ha had put two of the four buildings he owns on the market.
One property in Gwanchul-dong was purchased in 2018 for 8.1 billion won (US$5.5 million), while another in Bangi-dong was bought in 2019 for 12.7 billion won.

The two buildings are listed for 9.5 billion won and 17 billion won, respectively.
In 2021, Ha drew attention after selling a building in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo District and earned 4.57 billion won. He also owns properties in Sokcho, Gangwon Province, and Daehyun-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.
Ha said he had invested in property when his financial and real estate knowledge was still limited, which helped him relate to his character in the upcoming TV series.
“You can’t easily join the Financial Independence, Retire Early movement through real estate…Blindly chasing overnight riches on vague hopes always comes with a steep price. That’s this drama’s message,” Ha said during a press conference on Monday.
“Mad Concrete Dreams” is a suspense drama about a debt-ridden building owner who becomes involved in a fake kidnapping scheme to protect his family and his property. The series is scheduled to premiere at 9:10 p.m. on March 14.
Ha said he found parts of the script relatable, saying he had long realized that owning a building does not necessarily mean a comfortable life or strong financial backing.
Ha, 48, has been hailed as a box-office draw in South Korea. He previously starred in movies such as Take Off, Assassination and The Berlin File.
