South Korean actor Kim Yong Gun, 80, shares struggles of life with 6-year-old son

Veteran actor Kim Yong Gun, 80, has opened up about the challenges of raising his six-year-old son, offering a look at fatherhood later in life.

According to Maeil Business NewspaperKim spoke during the April 6 episode of the talk show “Table Tales,” where he appeared alongside actresses Jung Sun Hee and Im Chang Jung and acknowledged the physical demands of parenting at his age.

“I can’t really run around with him anymore,” he said. “I can’t keep up.”

Kim shares the child with his 42-year-old partner who has been in a relationship with him for 13 years.

He added that his older sons, including actor Ha Jung Woo, encouraged him to see the child as a blessing.

“That’s why I’m trying to spend as much time as I can with him, one more day, and then another,” Kim said.

Becoming emotional, the veteran actor said he wished he could watch his youngest son grow up a little longer.

“I don’t have much time left.”

According to Chosun BizKim also shared that his youngest son has a close bond with him, often waking up in the middle of the night to come to his bed and lie beside him.

Kim began his career as a voice actor in 1966 and has since built a long-standing career in film and television.

His notable works include the drama series “Summer Scent,” “Temptation of Wife,” and “Master’s Sun,” as well as films such as “Mr. Butterfly,” “100 Days with Mr. Arrogant,” and “200 Pounds Beauty.”
