South Korean actor Lee Jong Suk purchases $11M building
Actor Lee Jong Suk has purchased a building valued at 16.2 billion won (US$10.8 million), reportedly paying more than half of the amount in cash.
Chosun Biz reported that Lee’s newly acquired property is located in Seoul’s Cheongdam neighborhood. According to data from the Supreme Court’s registry, the actor completed the ownership transfer on Feb. 27. The sales contract was signed on Dec. 29, 2025.
The property sits on a 234-square-meter lot and is constructed with reinforced concrete. It includes five above-ground floors and one basement level. The building is nearly new, having received its occupancy permit in January of last year. Floor area comprises of 144.95 square meters on the first floor, 123.91 square meters on the second floor, 123.28 square meters on the third floor, 71.99 square meters on the fourth floor, and 72.31 square meters on the fifth floor.

According to land and property registration records, a senior mortgage of 7.2 billion won was established for the purchase. In South Korea, commercial banks typically set the maximum secured claim at about 120% of the loan amount, suggesting the actual loan is around 6 billion won. This indicates Lee paid 10 billion won in cash.
Real estate experts view the deal as a typical investment aimed at generating profit, leveraging the scarcity and appreciation potential of the Cheongdam area. Industry insiders also note that the property is located along the so-called “Heritage Line,” home to some of South Korea’s most expensive luxury residential complexes, such as PH129 and Eterno Cheongdam, and is expected to offer strong long-term appreciation potential.
Lee has previously invested in multiple prime real estate properties in Seoul, including in Hannam and Sinsa neighborhoods, profiting from price differences or increasing value through renovations.
Now 37, Lee debuted in 2005 as a runway model and gained recognition as an actor with television series “School 2013” and “I Can Hear Your Voice.” He rose to further prominence with dramas “Doctor Stranger,” “Pinocchio,” “W,” “While You Were Sleeping,” and “Big Mouth.”
Last year, pinkvilla ranked Lee as the ninth-highest-paid actor in South Korea.
